One thing that I hate about myself is that I betrayed my friend. But I never completely blame myself for the betrayal. Max is the kind of friend that of course would stab your back one day. He can never be trust. I never love Mel and I only hook up with her just to have fun. Haven’t met my other half. But I know that I will.
I’m the kinda of guy that will always be the second choice. In everything. Like for example, Mel chose Max first and then me. And they chose Clay as the captain for the school football team, but he rejected it, never actually know why he did that. Then, they chose me.
Chapter 6
I poured the carrot juice that I blended into the glass and add a small glass of milk into it. I have always like carrot juice. Carrot juice helped me in having great vision. I set the table with carrot juices and sandwiches for my mother and sister. Mom sat and started eating. I stood beside her, watching her ate the sandwiches. She stopped eating and asked, “Yes, honey?” I shook my head and asked permission from her to go out that night. “I’m gonna be meeting up with Clay later. You’re okay with that??”
“What’s up with you two, honey?” winked my mom. I could see that my mom was suspicious about Clay and I.
“Mom,” I laughed, “Nothing, mom. There’s nothing going on between me and Clay. But just, don’t tell Kelly about this okay?” I warned my mom. I didn’t want her to create another rumour about us.
Day One: I drove to Clay's house in my dad's old car. He was sitting in the garage, waiting for me. "You're ready, Al?" he asked. I sat in front of him and rubbed my nose. I was thinking about the pact that Clay and I made. "So, what's your plan for me tonight?" I asked him. He smiled and suddenly took my hand and brought me to his car. We hopped in and he drove me to the one of the most popular restaurant in Beverly Hills, En Brochette Restaurant. "But, Clay. I don't have much money like you do, okay? I'm not going in there." I said. Clay took my hand and forced me out of the car with saying, "Don't you worry. I'll pay. The manager is my dad's friend."
When I entered the restaurant, my mouth just couldn't stop saying 'wow'. It was beautiful. We chose a table for two and sat ourselves down. I ordered myself a 'Zuppa di pesce' and Clay ordered 'Pollo ai Funghi Porcini'. I looked at Clay's plate and grumbled. What I ordered were just clams served with tomato broth. Clay had a chicken breast served with paveau potatoes in his plate. I love chicken breast! I looked at Clay with a face saying "i want your food!" Clay smiled and exchanged our food.
He ate my 'Zuppa di pesce' and i took the chicken breast! "You must be hungry" said Clay while watching me eating. I looked at him and sighed. "Is it the way I'm eating? Well, you're gonna get use to it." i said angrily. He chuckled, rubbed the gravy off of my face and said. "We made a pact remember. I'm suppose to be exposing you the right manner to eat. Just don't get mad about it." I looked at him and laughed. "Okay, I'm sorry. I forgot about the pact. Go on about the manner thing." Clay took his spoon and looked at me, "When you hold your spoon, you just hold it, not grab it Al." I looked at my hand and Clay was right. I was grabbing it. Not holding it. Hate it when he was right. I rolled my eyes and mumbled, "Ah! Of course i was grabbing it. I mean, we're here, only both of us. Nothing formal, right?" Actually, grabbing the spoon is just the way I hold it. I admit I'm the kind of girl that never really care about the proper or manner way in eating. That was why i agreed to make a pact with Clay. I know that I didn't have what it takes to make anyone fall for me. I'm the harsh kind of girl.
"The word 'beautiful' is a beautiful word. 'Beau' stands for beauty and 'ful' stands for...." before he could finished his words, I interrupted him by saying, "i know, I know. 'ful' stands for you having the full package for being a beauty. Seriously Clay, you do really think that I don't have the package?" I asked him sarcastically. He laughed and said, "Well, my head keeps on telling me that you don't. Look at the way you're sitting and where we're at." Okay, now let me see. We were at a restaurant and I was sitting yoga style. Clay was being sarcastic. He came nearer to me and whispered, "Prove me wrong then." I got up from the chair angrily and said, "Yeah, I will! I will show to you! I'm not some bloody bitch like your little girlfriend that I assume you consider as a girl with the full package! At least, I'm not a bitch, Clay. This whole thing is a joke, this pact. I'm off!" I walked away and left the restaurant. But then I realized something. Sitting yoga style in a restaurant... is not a right manner. It took me 10 minutes to finally realized that.
And there I was, back in the restaurant again. Looking directly at Clay with saying, "Hell yeah, Clayton Cabot. I'm gonna prove it to you." Clay smiled. "Okay. Cross you leg, like this but not too tight. Or Ben will be wondering why you look so pale." Clay continued. We fought a little on that day, when he started to call me a low-class-gigolo. Though he could be annoying sometimes, I forced myself to not get mad at him. Because I was going to prove to Clay that this girl named Alleana Rose Filter is the real definition for beautiful.
"Hey!" Roxy approached Ben as she reached school. Ben was the first one she greeted that actually smiled to her. "Hey! You're.... You're new, right?" Ben asked and told Roxy that he was actually a new student too. Roxy sat next to him and took a look at the book Ben was reading. "You're reading Sperm?" she asked.
"What?" Ben looked at Roxy.
"I mean, you're studying about sperm?" Roxy picked her word carefully so Ben won't laugh at her English.
Ben laughed. "Oh yeah. Well, you know, about the science stuff. Nothing porn." Ben went on, "I'm Ben. Benjamin Alfort." Roxy smiled and shook his hand and said, "I'm... Roxy. Roxanne Garcia.Well, tell me about it."
"About what?"
"This school. Beverly High."
"You're gonna have to call it Beverlie. These people.... around you. Don't thrust them. They lie... a lot... But anyway, I'm not the right person to tell you about this school. Since I'm new too." Ben closed the book he was holding and placed it on his lap. He turned himself to face Roxy and started to mumble about something she didn't quite understand of what he was talking about. Suddenly...
"Bill, right?" Dolly asked rudely while playing with her blonde-golden hair.
"It's Ben, actually. What's up?"
She took the gum out from her mouth and threw in to the ground and laughed with an evil kind of laugh. "Well, you might wanna know that your bitch is cheating on you."
"What?" Ben didn't get of what Dolly was saying. All he heard was blablablablabla. But then he realized that Dolly was definitely talking about Al. He rubbed his head, laughed and said, "Ally's not even my girlfriend, Dolly."
"Well, she's your prom date, aite? So, don't you think it's a little inappropriate for her to meet Clay the whole time? I mean, she might ditch you and go for Clay, you know. I mean, I know what I know. I've been there. Clay is irresistible, no offense."
"Can't you just.........." he stopped and took a deep breath, ".....go?"
"Well, think about it Billy. You don't wanna end up being hurt. Well... see ya!" Dolly went off.
"It's Ben... By the way." Ben just stared to the ground and seemed to be thinking about Al.
"You like this Ally girl, right?" Roxy suddenly asked. That sketched a smile on Ben's lips. "No.... wait? Ally? Ally Rose?"
Ben looked at her and laughed, "I'm surprise to know you knowing Al. How do you know her?"
Roxy jumped, "I chat.... with her.... been quite awhile... Can I meet her???"
Day Two: Clay was wearing a...... well he was being quite formal on that day. He was wearing a white long sleeve, buttoned up to his collarbone. Thank God he didn't show off his chest because I hate guys with hairy chest. "I'm going to go to a funeral after this" Clay mumbled. He was trying to fold his collar but he just kept on messing it up. I stood right in front of him on the edge of my foot like a ballerina, trying to reach him (i know I was kinda short) and helped him fixing up his collar. It was an awkward moment like I was his wife trying too hard to care about him before he went off to the office so he won't sleeps with his secretary or something. Then, we stopped, looking directly into each others eyes. He was so close to me. So close that I could felt his breath through me. But like in an appropriate way, you know.
"This is nice...." Clay suddenly said in his 'manly' voice.
I pushed myself away from him and did my usual face-expression, my what-the-heck face. "What is nice?" I pretended not to get of what he was saying.
Clay blushed. He just looked to the ground so I won't realize that he was blushing. "Okay, so what if... this happen between you and Ben. What are you going to do?"
"Not gonna do anything. There's no chemistry going on, why would I do anything or even say anything." I said. Well, I can't never deny that there was a chemistry going on between Clay and I at the moment, but why would I admit that to Clay, right?
"You sure? Even if he touches your hair like this," Clay rubbed my hair and continued, "and brushing his fingers on your cheek like this and said "You look beautiful tonight", you're not gonna feel a thing? Not even a heart beat?" Clay asked.
I shoved his hands from my hair and face and said slowly, "No......." I went on, "In fact, I'm gonna say, "Thanks, Ben. You look hot!"
"I'll bet he'll run away from you. Girls should not praise guys too much. They'll leave you.... all.... alone..... and cold. You should just say, "Thanks. No one had ever said that to me before," and you just hold his tie, not too tight nor to loose and.... no wait! make it loose. Guys like that. Okay... try on me now." Clay directed me.
I did what he asked me to do and yes, I did loosen his tie and surprisingly... he... had nothing to say. He was speechless.
"Can I just say "Aww Ben! Thanks! You're so sweet!" "
"Hell no! He's not your brother!" Clay laughed.
